Web site editing software programs make it easy for users to update Web pages without using any HTML code. Some examples Web editing programs are:
IWSS staff uses Contribute and Dreamweaver, and will train any clients interested in using these programs. These programs can be set to reinforce valid coding and accessibility features from the beginning, which will save you time in the long run.
Contribute assists novice Web Maintainers and Content Maintainers by eliminating the need for coding completely. The IWSS staff will define all of the necessary coding procedures during site development, and the functions in Contribute will ensure all updates to the site adhere to those changes.
Furthermore, Contribute takes all the guesswork out of maintaining accessibility while updating your site. IWSS staff members are able to customize the features available in Contribute to meet the individual needs and abilities of our clients.
Dreamweaver has an interface known as Design View, which allows users to type text and format text similar to the way they would in Microsoft Word. While in Design View, Dreamweaver will generate all of the necessary HTML code while users make their changes. If any changes invalidate the code, Dreamweaver will warn users by displaying a yellow warning icon on the page being edited.
Furthermore, Dreamweaver uniformly implements accessibility features by prompting users to insert descriptive tags each time they enter media elements such as photos, sound, tables or video. Other accessibililty features are stored in a standard template for each page on the Web site, known as the IWSS eStoryboard.
FrontPage and Go Live are two other site management programs. Our eStoryboard is designed to work with the configurations in both of these software tools.
